Endless

He promised me an endless summer,
but all I have is winter, barren and cold
He promised me rainbows and pots of gold,
and all I got was a patch of thorns.

He promised to make me fly, together forever,
my wings are broken beyond repair.
He promised me a dream,
I got the nightmare.

He promised a soul for a soul,
He sent a wraith.
He promised inspiration,
There was only a cloud of confusion.

He promised laughter,
he left tears behind.
He promised me trust,
he lied.
